BIM provides a valuable platform for assessing project constructability, for
estimating, cost management, schedule planning, procurement, and managing scope changes. Using virtual construction allows us to improve project predictability, optimize schedules, reduce risk, and manage project cost.
Basic BIM starts with 3D models for Architectural, Structural, Mechanical and
Electrical disciplines. These models are integrated into a single model for clash detection and design coordination. Using a systematic approach, we are able to address these clashes and any coordination issues during the design stage and therefore minimize the number of potential costly changes that often occur during construction.
Using the geometry from the 3D model elements we take BIM beyond 3D by
extracting accurate quantities that are then used for estimating and scheduling. Through this integrated process we have tighter project controls which benefits all stakeholders and minimizes Owner’s risk.
