Acciona Lark Joint Venture is working with the Vancouver Island Health Authority ( VIHA ) to design and build a new 500-bed Patient Care Centre at the Royal Jubilee Hospital site in Victoria BC. The new hospital will enable VIHA to provide acute care for patients who are recovering from illness, surgery or injury in a world-class, energy-efficent facility designed as a Centre for Excellence in elder care. We are proud to offer this improved acute care hospital, which will better serve the residents of Victoria and all of Vancouver Island.
The project has four main components:
* Construct a new building that will provide 500 beds for patients who need overnight care in the hospital;
* Upgrade the boiler plant systems to support the new building and other enhanced services.
* Create additional visitor and staff parking and realign existing parking
* Relocate critical programs. The majority of the objectives and benefits are focused on the Patient Care Centre component and include:
* Building a new facility that will accommodate current and future patient care needs
* Improving the quality of care provided to patients
* Improving the safety and efficiency for nurses, physicians and other health care providers
* Developing a hospital that will support and encourage physician and staff recruitment and retention
* Creating a hospital that will become a Centre of Excellence in elder care
* Building an environmentally-friendly building that is designed and constructed to LEED Gold (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards
* Building a hospital where cost escalation is minimized and public money is used efficiently and responsibly. |
